i have a 2012 year in review post in the works. it seems long and boring, so instead, i decided i will talk about some other stuff.
lets talk about my head. and how its opening up and brains are spewing everywhere!!! ok, not really. but two weeks after the surgery, i went in to get the staples out. i had a big meeting at work where i was presenting a bunch of stuff and i had a big laugh with my boss and some other people about how in the middle of when i was presenting i would pretend to sneeze, make a big sneeze and then throw staples all over the table. THAT would have been fun. similar to when i was pregnant with sirus back in the day, i was going to pour water infront of my boss's office door and leave a note saying - having baby, went to hospital. good fun at other people's expenses!
but since the staples came out i've been having some bad headaches. like every day. they have let up some but now when they hit, they hit hard. no fun. so i went to my normal doctor and they did blood work and totally unrelated to everything i have low white blood cell count. need to get that checked.
in addition, all the internal, alegedly dissolvable stitches are maing their way out, causing the skin that had closed and healed, that was held together by the staples, to open!! totally gross. so i went in the day after xmas, the day before heading to ohio. they took a look, gave me antibiotics and sent me on my way with an emergency fix it up kit.
ohio with my mom was way fun! i was sad that i wasn't able to hook up with my friends, but i was happy to be there with my mom and to drive her around and see her friends. it was great to spend the time with her. she and i are about the same speed, she doesn't mind that i like to take naps! she also doesn't mind that i wanted to go to the gym either. we went to quaker steak and lube and the all and we visited with her friends, and we went to gorants and then to the wedding! it was the fanciest wedding i have ever been to! the bride wore a pink dress! it was beautiful, i haven't ever seen anything like it, even if it wasn't pink! they are both dancers, and know a ton of dancers so the reception was almost like watching dance show, everyone on the floor was so fun to watch! i wound up with a headache though, which was very concerning, i was on the verge of puking, it was bad, i was so worried that i was going to have to go back to the hotel early, and i ddn't want to. i was trying to figure out where i could just go lay down for a while. but i got up, got away from the music for just a bit, let my gut hang out and then saw the cookie table! once i had some cookies, i felt 100% better, i got a 2nd wind, like i didn't have a headache at all, nausea was gone, everything. even danced some. so glad it went away!
oh, but the incision - just kept opening up! i was emailing the nurse the whole time. on friday she asked if i could come in, so i did. everyone is fighting over what is going on and if anything needs to be done. i've heard everything from they need to shave my head to i need IV antibiotics and an MRI to i don't need to do anything, its no big deal. so i left on friday with instructions to not get my head wet. no hair washing, no wetting my hair to keep it from standing on end, no hats, no sweating - no exercise in the hopes that will give it enough time to heal. oh, i should mention it went from one tiny thread popping up to like 10 of them!! and goo everywhere!! so i am allegedly allowed to wash my hair tomorrow and even start exercising. so we will see, but the whole thing had me so depressed. it was a rough friday. i emailed the nurse asking if i can shave my head because i am so damn sick of it all. she said i had to wait to talk to the surgeon on thursday. they are such a not fun group - no tattoos on my head, no shaving my head! allie asked that i please video tape asking my surgeon to go with me to get a tattoo once all is said and done. eric is pretty convinced he will say yes, stand up, unbutton his shirt and reveal a chest full of tattoos, i mean, he did play football in college...at harvard... in the early '70s...
and omg, i almost forgot the best part. so i've been all woe is me, pity party and stuff, and not much fun to be around. so this morning i was moping, not wanting to get out of bed, but eric was like, dude, get out of bed, lets go look at washers and dryers - since our dryer just up and quit. i was like, ok, but let me cut my hair first. since its short i'll take the scissors to it every once in a while, but i haven't tackled the back, so i decided i was going to get her done this morning. so i stood in the shower will all my clothes on, so the hairs would just fall into the shower, and just started chopping away. chop chop chop. i was doing ok, until i found out that my neck is sorta hairy, wtf! i guess i haven't ever had my hair cut so short in the back that it was an issues, but yeah, i kind of cut it THAT short. i i grabbed eric's clippers and turned them on... nothing like your husband running in at the sound of clippers with a big old - uh, do you need any help? it looks fine. the best part of having such short hair, too is that if you mess it up (which i may or may have not done) it will grow back and not be an issue in no time flat. espeically if you don't give a rats ass.
