chocolate cake

so, earlier in the month, before becoming part of the throughth3wallchallenge, i had made a quick food log to document the crap that i eat on a daily basis. i mentioned some chocolate cake. the reason there was chocolate cake was because a guy i work with not only had an incredible marathon pr of 2:18 but at the same time qualified for the olympic trials in NYC this past weekend. so absolutley amazing. as i grow older i find it fascinating and reassuring that people who are amazing athletes or who hold high power positions in the corporate world are just like me. and you even. they are normal ordinary people. i have met my share of both types and ya know, they are just normal people who do interesting things. i try to do my best in both of those areas so it gives me reassurance that while people do have special gifts that may help them be extra amazing, they are normal, too. realizing this has helped me imensly in the past year to overcome HUGE obsticales at work. i am now public speaker extraordinare. ok, maybe not, but really, i can do it and i am fine.
on that note, i did some super modeling this past weekend. i was feeling old when i showed up there and the people doing hair and makeup didn't want to do my hair since it was short, until this lady came along and put in pin curls and made it all 1940's which i loved, then when all the girls were wearing grey and black and red with leather hand bags, they put me in this super frumpy mustard yellow dress with a canvas bag that said to kiss my canvas. all outfit changes after that were good though. i am going to try to dig up some photos from it.
there is lots to tell about the trip to hawaii. a few quick comments though, it was hot, the kids had a blast at the beach, we got to see cheri and we want to go back. even the redeye flight back was ok. we managed back to the house by noonishon saturday and sirus went down for a nap probably around 3pm and didn't wake up until 8am on sunday! he was a tired little guy! more about the trip and the races later.
